Presenting LIFE Elia at DG Environment

Elia team was invited by the DG Environment to present the project to a panel of representatives of Eastern countries in Brussels on June 2nd 2015. These countries are involved in the so called "Eastern Partnership", and for this occasion more specifically in Environment and Climate change.

The Eastern Partnership

The Eastern Partnership is a joint policy initiative launched at the Prague Summit in May 2009. It aims to deepen and strengthen relations between the European Union and its six Eastern neighbours: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Event on Nature protection and Biodiversity

A three days event was organised by the Eastern partnership to share ideas and methods concerning nature protection and biodiversity programs. For this purpose, the DG Environment asked the LIFE Elia team to present the project : its actions on site, communication and networking campaign.

The LIFE program being  a tool for improving the Environment in Europe, the team demonstrated how an initial investment in a LIFE project could benefit other Member States. Indeed, innovative methods are tested during the project duration, but also their ability to be replicated in other countries. And no doubt that the LIFE Elia is a good example for that, since methods implemented to manage vegetation can me replicated in all forests in Europe, by adapting if needed to local vegetation and challenges.
